Salt Water Pool & Spa with Covered Outdoor Living Area & Landscaping

The Cradic Project was to design a lagoon shaped heated salt water pool and spa with a covered outdoor dining area with some landscaping. The size of the backyard and easements made it a challenge to build a fairly large pool. The client wanted a heated salt water pool to maximize the swimming season and minimize pool maintenance and cost. We placed the spa near the covered dining area to better facilitate group interaction while entertaining. The client was very pleased with the finished project.

Salt water pools have several advantages. Because they have lower chlorine levels, salt water pools are gentler on the eyes and skin. Research indicates that salt water pool systems may be safer than chlorine pools, which require pool owners to store and handle harsh chemicals. Salt water pools produce softer-feeling water, which many find desirable. Because the salt cells in a salt water pool system only produce chlorine as needed, the pools require less maintenance when compared to traditionally chlorinated swimming pools.

The salt cells used in most residential salt water pools are good for 10,000 hours of operation, or approximately three to five years. The life of a generator depends on multiple factors, including the frequency of pool maintenance, salt level, water chemistry, and other factors.
